Do Good by Doing Better

A place to think out loud about what is changing, what it means, and how each of us can make a difference—one act at a time.

Doing good starts with a better way of working.

Do Good by Doing Better began with a question: “What am I about, and what can I offer?” For years, people encouraged Eric to write, but he held back, convinced his voice needed to be wholly novel to be useful. An invitation to contribute to a friend's Substack made him confront that doubt. He came to see that the value is not always in a breakthrough; more often, it comes from advancing knowledge and understanding a little at a time. This is a home for those reflections, and for the ideas that emerge where technology, media, business, culture, and human behavior meet.

Engage with intention.

Producer and Host

“When we work to advance knowledge and understanding, if even just a little bit with each effort, we do good.”

Eric is a strategist, creative, and executive who has spent more than 25 years working across media, consumer insight, technology, and growth. The work starts with lived experience, follows the thread into the larger system, and ends with a useful next step. The writing lives on Substack; On Reflection is available onYouTube and Apple Podcasts.

Principles in practice.

01

Questions before answers

Look past the easy answer, test the assumptions underneath it, and stay open to what is still unknown.

02

See the whole system

Technology never arrives alone. Its meaning is shaped by people, history, incentives, timing, and the choices we make.

03

Learning by doing

Useful progress comes through curiosity, inquiry, experimentation, and learning—then putting what we learn to work.

Elucidate Media

A wider view of the work.

Elucidate Media develops editorial projects and conversations that explore the system surrounding a subject—not only the obvious story, but the people, histories, incentives, and choices that give it meaning.
